This is a publication from my work as Science Writer at MGH. I worked closely with the first author to create/format the figures and provided editing support for the text.

FLARE - Fast Literature Updates
During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, a team of physicians from the Pulmonary and Critical Care Division and the Department of Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital came together to form FLARE. Their goal was to review the rapidly evolving literature on SARS-CoV-2, with an emphasis on critical care issues. I joined the team in the fall of 2020 and collaborated in editing, researching, and writing articles.
See FLARE for articles for which I contributed a substantial amount of research and writing.
NYU Science Communication Workshop
I have taken both the introductory and advanced Science Communication Workshop offered at NYU through the Carter Institute of Journalism, which aims to teach students how to effectively communicate science to a broader audience. Both workshops I attended were taught by Stephen S. Hall.
See NYU SciComm for samples of the writing pieces I produced in those workshops.
Blogging
Throughout graduate school, I have also contributed articles to blogs like
the Sackler Messenger (NYU School of Medicine's graduate student newsletter), as well as
Managing, Writing, Editing
During my undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania, I worked with a student publication called Penn Science Journal of Undergraduate Research. I was an editor, writer, and writing co-manager for the publication, which showcased research papers from undegraduate students, and feature articles about various science topics.
As a writer, I wrote about Yersinia pestis bacterium, the bacteria most well-known for being responsible for the "Black Plague" in 14th century Europe, in the Fall 2010 issue; I also co-wrote an article highlighting research in nanotechnology at Penn in the Spring 2011 issue.
I volunteer with Cambridge Bike Safety and Boston Cyclist Union, two advocacy organizations in the greater Boston area that are working towards making our streets safer. For Cambridge Bike Safety, I co-manage the organization's website and social media presence (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook), and have contributed to written articles, which are linked here.
