I grew up in Calgary, Canada, in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in biology with a neurobiology concentration, with minors in math and statistics, from the University of Pennsylvania in 2012. I then moved to New York to pursue my PhD at the Sackler Institute of Graduate Biomedical Sciences (now the Vilcek Institute) at New York University School of Medicine, where I studied the molecular mechanisms of memory formation using rodent models in the laboratory of Dr. Cristina Alberini. After completing my PhD, I moved to the Boston area and changed fields to work as the in-house science writer for the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. I am now an Assistant Director in Foundation Relations at Boston University where I support the science faculty in College of Arts and Sciences.
Outside my studies, I like to stay active. While living in one of the densest cities in North America, I rediscovered the joy and freedom that comes with biking as transportation. I am also a competitive Irish dancer, and play Ultimate frisbee in local recreational leagues.
I also enjoy cooking and exploring new-to-me cuisines.
